Designed to further advance the Toyota Gazoo Racing philosophy of ever-better, motorsport-bred cars, GR GT takes performance, design, and engineering to impressive new heights.
GR GT was conceptualized as a road-legal sports car, and it has more than lived up to that vision. Every element in the vehicle’s design was factored against delivering the highest levels of dynamic performance.
The maximum system output rates at 650 PS or greater, and maximum system torque of 850 Nm or greater provides overwhelming performance.
GR GT is equipped with a hybrid system that pairs a newly-developed 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a single electric motor, putting real meaning in ‘road-legal race car’.
Designed to create a stir wherever it goes, GR GT has been crafted to reflect its motorsport heritage and to move the driver in every way possible.
A Toyota first, GR GT adopts an all-aluminum body frame that provides low weight and high rigidity, a key element to enhanced performance.
Development of GR GT, which is continuing, aims to achieve a thoroughly low centre of gravity factoring in both vehicle height, and the driver’s position.
As impressive as the body shape is to look at, GR GTs’ design stems from establishing the ideal aerodynamic performance first, then followed by exterior styling considerations.
Forging the next generation of sports car design meant employing the most up to date technologies and pushing them even further.
In addition to aesthetics and performance, development strived to achieve a sense of car-driver unity, with cockpit design and technologies that enable the driver to interact with the vehicle at all times.
In addition to the aluminum body frame, the appropriate use of carbon reinforced plastic and other advanced materials in the body panels results in a strong yet light body.
GR GT3 features the low centre of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance of the GR GT. It meets the specifications of the Federation International de l’Automobile (FIA) GT3, which is the top category of production vehicle-based customer motorsports. TGR believes that its driver-first principle, is equally important in the GT3 race car category, which can find both professional drivers and non-professional drivers behind the wheel.
